*My parents brought us tons of supplies and gifts from the new world. That explains why we had so much luggage.
We spent all afternoon on the train, enjoying each others company. There was only one goal Josh had in mind for our one night's stay in Leipzig.
The Gose
The reason we went to Leipzig was to try a beer, really. I am not a beer drinker. I try and I try to like it. It just does not happen. Recently, Josh has been very interested in sour beers (Don't get him started on lacto bacillus!). The city of Leipzig is famous for the Leipziger Gose (pronounced Gose-uh) which originated in Goslar. As soon as we arrived and dropped our luggage at our hostel, we headed back out to find the Bayerischer Bahnhof, an old railway station that's transformed into a restaurant and brewery. I had a feeling I wouldn't like the Gose. But, I was in Germany after all; I had to try it. I was so very pleasantly surprised to see that the menu offered the Gose with flavored syrups.
I had the Gose with raspberry syrup and Mom tried the cherry syrup. No syrup for the guys, since they're purists. I thought it was delicious!

The Bach
What else is there to see in Leipzig, you ask? A ton of stuff for a classical music fan! My mom was thrilled to find out that for many years, Leipzig was the home to Johann Sebastian Bach. It is also the site of his final resting place.
Though the Bach museum was closed on the only day we were there, we managed to see some good stuff, namely the St. Thomas Church and the St. Nicholas Church, both in which Bach worked.
